The breeding bearded Dragons is nowadays very popular because they are easy to grow at home also for the hobbyists. Often one must be careful where you purchase a bearded Dragon. Some inexperienced growers will be irresponsible by breeding with inappropriate or related animals (often ignorance). Descendants of related may be suffering from e.g. deformities, paralysis and meningitis. 

In addition, there is currently a wide range of bearded dragons on the market and the demand is low. Consider carefully that all the eggs that come out also have to find a good home. In Netherlands you see e.g. that there is a surplus to these animals. Many animals are therefore dumped on the streets, where they then do not survive or be found. To ensure that the animals are healthy for the animals is recommended that you decide to put them together for mating, to investigate. This to the strong and healthy offspring. Furthermore, a lot of energy creating a mating and eggs. 

Bearded dragons reach sexual maturity when they are 8 months old. Don't start too early with letting couples. wait a year and a half old with pairs until they are sure (fokrijp). The females have when they are young their lime very much needed for its own growth, lime give the females also on the eggs. 

The mating season takes place mostly after winter rest, around February. If the females stay together behind couples, they can't relax and hit them exhausted. To prevent this, the male sometimes set apart to reduce the few drift and the breeding season to end.  

 

  • Geslachtsrijp : ± 8 maanden (kenmerk van de geslachtsrijpheid is het voltooid zijn van de primaire en secundaire geslachtskenmerken)
  • Fokrijp : 1,5 jaar (de dieren zijn nu voldoende ontwikkeld om jongen te krijgen)
  • Aantal eieren : gem. 10 tot 30 stuks
  • Uitbroed temperatuur : 28 C° tot 31 C° graden
  • Uitbroed duur : 50 tot 70 dagen
  • Acceptatie geslachtsgelijke : Bij mannen zeer laag. Vaak worden mannen met meerdere vrouwtjes gehouden. Vrouwtjes gaan echter vaak goed samen.
