Stomatitis

Mondrot is a (bacterial) infection of the soft tissue (palate, tongue, gums) of the mouth.

Symptoms:

Light, swollen mucous membranes in or around mouth or nose, red dots and light yellow afgestoven tissue in the mouth. The mucosa lining of the mouth is too red and often contains white-yellow attack. There may also be growths of inflammatory tissue in the mouth.

Cause:

Mondrot is not a primary disease, but comes secondary in bearded dragons with an underlying disease. 

Treatment:

De dierenarts zal je een (breed spectrum) antibioticakuur geven, de kans op volledige genezing is zeer groot. Wanneer de mondrot niet behandeld wordt kan ook het kaakbot bij de infectie betrokken raken en breken.
